Child Custody & Visitation

×
Under Oklahoma law both parents are potentially entitled to custody of the minor children. In most cases, liberal visitation with the non-custodial parent is encouraged so that the parent-child relationship may continue to grow. A specific court-ordered schedule is often required, or it may be left to the good judgment and reasonableness of the parties. If the latter arrangement proves unmanageable, a request for a visitation schedule may be set for the court at a later date. Visitation is never conditioned on payment of child support. Joint custody is gaining favor and is appropriate in some cases.
